Welcome to a series of posts we’ll be doing over the next few weeks that will feature the best brunch joints in Victoria.
If you’ve never brunched in our province’s capitol, you are missing out. They take their brunches very, very seriously over there, and there are some exemplary places to get your eggs on a weekend before exploring Buchart Gardens, going Whale-Watching, checking out the Royal BC Museum, or having afternoon tea at The Empress.
Nourish is so much more than a restaurant. Starting in a small (since expanded) space at The Gardens at the Horticultural Centre of the Pacific, they’ve also opened a new location in James Bay. In the Garden is a lovely setting that feels like a cabin in the woods. In the Harbour is a beautifully-restored heritage home with a bright dining room, stand up cafe, upstairs lounge areas, and room for classes and other events. It is fabulous.
Everything in the building is gluten free, home made, and worth trying. Local roaster Caffe Fantastico coffee is served, and there’s bacon. You must try the Benny’s Gone Nuts for breakfast. Poached eggs on sweet potatoes, with kale, and a fabulous vegan cashew hollandaise. Gluten free and vegan, but that’s not even the point. Get bacon on the side if you like, but try this dish. Have a local glass of rosé, or craft beer, all the drinks are local for your brunch enjoyment.
